Good morning boys and girls.

Life in PS2 can be violent, unfair and brutal. And that's before you even leave the warp-gate. Here are some useful tips to staying alive on the battlefield as a infantry soldier.

Rule number one: Have no fear, you're in the rear!

If your squad is planning on taking a number of vehicles to attack an objective - be sure to sit in the rearmost vehicle. This greatly reduces the risk of fucking dying to tank mines. In the event that your vehicle plows on ahead and is destroyed in the same minefield, be sure to promptly execute your driver the next time you see him.

Rule number two: Out on the pull?

Never be the first to pull from a outdoor vehicle pad. Fucking snipers are everywhere. In the event that there are a number of people at the pad and you need to wait more than a few seconds before your vehicle is built, strongly consider saluting someone. Snipers love to shoot officers.

Rule number three: Dont be a dick, wait for the click

Try not to be at the head of an infantry push. Statistical data provides that on average, the NC and VS will reload after killing 2 of your team mates. Be number three and catch them with their pants down.

Rule number four: Duck and cover

Smoke grenades are effective at covering a retreat. Sadly however, at least one third of the enemy is likely to have some sort of thermal scope. Therefore consider instead throwing a flash bang / concussion grenade at your own team. When was the last time you shot at a moving target when there were easier options close by?

Rule number four: The magic of the meat shield

Ever wondered how it is that you seem to do all the shooting but others get all the kills? Leaving aside for a moment the possibility that your aim is as stable as Stephen Hawkings on LSD, chances are you just haven't adopted the right approach. Consider hanging back a little. This way you wont be shot at as often and should you time your advance correctly, be in the right position to finish off all those low health survivors.

Rule number five: Safety First

As with above, only stand back, count to three and throw as many grenades into the room as you can. Ideally, you should do this as soon as you hear shooting. Waiting too long may result in the loss of kills.

Rule number six: Decoy grenades

If playing as a medic, should the situation prove hopeless and you run the risk of being overwhelmed by advancing infantry, be sure to toss a res grenade into that tightly packed bunch of dead friendly soldiers. As soon as that bad boy is in the air be sure to hit the *delete* key. With luck by the time the enemy has finished killing those poor hapless bastards again, you and your KD ratio will be safe and secure on the redeploy screen.

Rule number seven: Death from above

When Galaxy dropping onto a hostile target, consider throwing flash bangs down into rooms where fighting is taking place. Not only will this reduce your chance of being shot, it will also provide you with greater opportunity to run the fuck away should the enemy presence be larger than anticipated.

Rule number eight: Adopt a low profile in combat

Where possible, do not speak on mumble. do not interact with fellow members and never under any circumstances be useful by proactively pulling support vehicles. This will greatly reduce the chance of you being noticed as a good solid player. As a consequence, chances are, most people wont even know who the fuck you are. In the heat of battle officers are likely to rely upon those they know to carry out difficult or risky tasks. If no one knows who the fuck you are, chances are the most you will be asked to do on any given day is board some form of transport.

Rule number nine: Too late?

In the event that you've already been noticed, consider climbing up the chain of command. This way you can safely order others to carry out those risky tasks while you *consult the map*

Rule number ten: It's all gone to shit, what now?

Sometimes even the best laid plans will fall apart. In the event that you have to undertake some actual fighting, dont panic. Remain calm. there are still a number of ways to stay alive.

1. stay at the back of a room. if the fight looks like its going to end badly, hit redeploy. You still show up as being dead to your squad - no one will be any wiser and you retain your KD

2. in small scale fights, find a safe location and send whispers to the enemy. often, if they are stupid or vanu, they will stop to reply. This often allows you to push into a room where you know they are camping. While they are busy retorting to your hate driven outburst, you can empty large quantities of ammo into their helpless forms.

3. follow around someone who is actually good. Chances are they know what they are doing. Dont follow too closely - they may not care about dying!

4. consider playing a support class. These people are generally well protected.

5. if engaged run away.

6. Dont shoot until you have a kill shot.

7. never reload. you might get attacked while doing so. A gun is a gun right? Just stand at the back and look menacing. Besides, generally speaking, the enemy will first shoot at those that are shooting in their direction. Not being involved allows for a swift and peaceful retreat.

The above is intended for comedy.
