Essentially it's like the new Lynx but an Assault Rifle. It won't out-damage the TRV or TAR, but it's still got excellent TTK, assuming all rounds hit. I particularly like the quick reload, which is one of my main problems with TR weaponry in general. Also has incredible bullet velocity for its RPM, meaning it's much better for mid-long range combat than the TAR or TRV. I only hope it has left biased (like the TRV and SN-11) or right biased (like the TAR) horizontal recoil as opposed to the side-to-side recoil that most TR weapons have (Cycler is one such weapon).

Hmm, this could make the Reaper DMR obselete, since this has a 30 round mag over the DMR's 20. That in my opinion is worth the slight decrease in RPM. , Like the TORQ, it has very good bullet velocity, which makes it better for mid-long range combat. And in those scenarios you're usually burst or tap firing than full auto so the RPM decrease becomes negligible.

Finally the VS's new AR. It's basically the SABR for VS with either a 2 round burst or semi auto fire, though it only does 143 per shot compared to the SABR's 167. Its chamber time is better, meaning its RPM is better than the SABR. TTK-wise, I think the Terminus has the edge over the SABR.

What is this weapon (the TR one) best used for? Is it only for those long-mid range?

I personally love the TRV and not sure if I would leave that one for the new one. Or is it
just that both weapons have diffrent uses?

The TORQ is basically an all-rounder, despite having 857 RPM. It is better than average in CQC, but it has better bullet velocity and ADS accuracy than most TR assault rifles, making it more viable for mid-long range combat.

The TRV is without a doubt better than the TORQ for CQC, but, if you find yourself in a situation where you would want to switch to Field kit with a longer range AR, you'll do better with the TORQ than the TRV. in other words, you gain some versatility in exchange for a slightly worse CQC weapon. This argument can also be applied to the TAR as well.

If you're the type of person who loves the default T1 Cycler, which is quite a good all-round weapon, this is a straight upgrade both in terms of overall stats and also having more attachments.

Exactly, I was going to log on to PTS to test the TORQ before writing this, but sadly nope.

OK, PTS was finally available, so I jumped on for a bit to test the TORQ. It's quite the good gun. At close range you're going to shred infantry, and you still have decent accuracy and velocity to be useful at medium range. I like it more than either the TAR or TRV as it's a bit closer to my preferred choice of AR (NS-11) but is still an excellent CQC weapon.

The recoil is really easy to manage. It's similar to the TAR's but more vertical than horizontal. Even if you put on HV Ammo it is quite easy to keep on target. The gun is definitely more of an ADS weapon than a hipfire one, so I'd use foregrip over the laser sight.

What I think is the ideal setup is the following;

-Reflex (1x or 2x), HSNV
-Foregrip
-SP or HV Ammo as needed
-No barrel attachment, but you can use suppressor as needed.

The gun has a 2 round burst but it's pretty meh. The gun's low damage (125 per round) hurts its ability to take targets out at long range, so this gun is more ideal for close to medium range, since you can tap fire on full auto at medium range pretty well, landing 4-5 shots per burst. Because of the high RPM, you going to chew though ammo pretty quickly without an ammo pack nearby.

It's a lynx for medics, just done right. Anything less than 800rpm ain't a TR weapon in my book lol!

How is the two round burst handled? Is it bang recoil, bang recoil or bang-bang recoil (like Russian two round rifles)?

Looks very interesting.

The 2 round burst has a fair bit of kick, so unless you can compensate for that burst you would need to aim at the chest or lower to hit with both rounds.

I tend to stick to using an SMG, as the last thing I want to do as a medic is alert anyone not immediately in front of me that I am there.

"hello medic here!"

I may just check this out though for a change, for those moments I actually get to use anything other than the medical applicator ;)

cheers,
Oyst.

Im seriously unconvinced about this new medicweapon. The lower dmg is just unatractive even with the "high" rpm, compared to the TAR/TRV. Why not just use an SMG.

As a medic, I tend to stay away from firing long range anyways.

Unconvinced and slightly disapointed at this first look. Ofc I will try it out to be sure ;)

What did i told you Bakane, you will love it

I acctualy like low damage Ellynora

Understand that being a 125 max damage gun does not disadvantage the TORQ, and is one of the most brilliant things about it for long-range performance. Consider the NS-11A, a gun you think it should fill the same role as. At minimum damage the NS-11A is doing 125 damage at 652 RPM, or about 1358 DPS with a TTK of around 0.644s. At minimum damage the TORQ is doing 112 damage at 857 RPM, or about 1600 DPS with a TTK of around 0.560s.

Basically, the 125 damage tier can leverage its higher RPM at minimum damage ranges because the way damage tiers in this game scale, each jump higher is a greater difference. 200 to 167 is 33 damage, 167 to 143 is 24, 143 to 125 is 18, and 125 to 112 is only 13. The damage curve is much flatter, about 2.5x flatter than the Reaper DMR's. The way the Lynx and TORQ appear to be designed, the DPS is similar to or a little worse than similar alternatives at point blank range (the DPS on the TORQ is actually way closer to the T1 than the Lynx's is to the GD-7F's, but the TTK complicates it slightly) unless you get headshots, and they tend to have worse DPM due to the weaker bullets.

But - and this is a huge but! - a flatter damage curve means better performance out toward the lower end of the magazine relative to higher damage tier weapons, and better relative DPM as well. The Lynx loses about 1000 DPM from max to min damage, but the GD-7F loses like 1290. The TORQ loses like 600 or so DPM shooting at max range. It's a more efficient gun at all ranges. Now this would be useless if it couldn't hit things at those ranges but as the TORQ currently stands it totally can. The handling is amazing for a >800 RPM gun. It is a higher skill cap generalist weapon over the T1 that rewards that skill with some fantastic advantages in efficiency and readiness (thanks to that sweet reload), but disadvantages to throughput and sustainability. And the damage model essentially makes it more reliable at longer distances than the T1 is.

Cheers! thank you for your thoughts :D I will consider trying out some lower dmg weapons. Any good (cert-cheap) suggestions?

I actually own the Armistice (Member sale) and the NS7-PDW (fresh-meat pack). I will take them out for a spin a bit more then :p
