BRTD – Community Questions
1) Empire loyalty is a huge part of Planetside. What attracted you to the Terran Republic?
- Started out playing VS in the first few weeks after release, pretty quickly i realised that everything looks cooler in black/red so moved over to TR and have been here ever since as my main. However, i should note that ive played all empires at some stage over the years - id guess my total time breakdown would be:
TR - 70%
NC - 20%
VS - 10%

2) What brought you to Better Red Than Dead?
Was recruited by BigAlBNC as a noob in my first day playing TR in may 2003

3) Can you tell me a little about your history with Planetside
First saw planetside at a friends (AKs74 of EZ Company NC) house while he was playing beta and was blown away by the scale of fps battles i saw. Purchased the game on release and have been playing ever since, have had a few breaks along the way but never more than a few months. I've been here through all stages in planetside history - from the glory days in 2003, the 2 contraversial expansions, the death of Werner, server merges, right up to current day.

Attained Command Rank 5 towards the end of 2003 (when it was 5x as hard as it is now - no auto-join squad listings / much lower cep per base..etc), really enjoyed being involved in leading the empire along with other CR5s. Took over as Outfit Leader from Al for a few months while he was away in 2004 which was challenging but rewarding when things went right. Was present during the infamous 'bending' event which remains my favorite memory of planetside. Left TR to play NC full time in 2005 where i formed my own NC outfit (DKR) with a friend from TR xchocyx in 2005, during which time i gained my NC CR5. Took part in Outfit Wars on 2 empires, primarily for the VS outfit - FAnG aka Furious Angels where i played every match apart from the final vs Mercenarys (FA ended up as undefeated winners).
Had around 70,000 kills on my TR and was ranked in top 20 for kills on TR Werner when the stat tracking broke years back, id guess im at 125k+ now.

List of Outfits: * = curent outfit
TR
*BRTD / RTFM / BRTD mk ii

NC
EZ Company
DKR - own outfit
Mercenarys academy - kicked cos i wouldnt leave TR
[x]tr3m3 - very good killwhore outfit x2x, hehateme1, piratehead..etc
CuRsE - inf3nals crew, come at me bro (lol)
*If Carlsberg did Outfits.. - gemini werner vet outfit when werner died

VS
Irish Renegades - first ever outfit
FAnG / Furious Angels - best outfit in the game over all empires/servers imo
*PERFECTION - Concentrateds leetfit

4) What has been your most memorable experience in the outfit so far?
So many great moments with BRTD, a few that stand out particuarly:
- spawning an invicible raider from cyssor bomazi
- running the RTFM 'team tower elite squad' with piratehead, xchocyx, hercules4, ryanmcclarey, oby..
- more recently, the air chav night
- triple skyguard mod steal right off mercs noses at ishundar - neti

5) What would you say to anybody interested in joining the outfit?
If your looking for well organized versatile teamplay and good banter with a friendly group of guys and girls then look no further. super leet players / bad attitudes are not welcome.
Also - disregard 90% of anything Collin says..

6) How would you describe the outfit community?
A really friendly community, easy to get on with and welcoming to new players..one of our main strengths. We have a good mix of veterans and new players and a functioning ranking system that rewards loyalty and experience, players can rise quickly through the ranks if they have proven ability in any given field.

7) How do you feel about the approach of Planetside 2?
Not great tbh, looks to be a big move away from the core of what made planetside so unique...however its hard to judge from screenshots and alpha footage.
Time will tell.

1: The Barneys are too shiny for my tastes and I hate the Smurf merc mentality.
The TR are the only logical option.

2: Coordination, Cooperation, Command and Control. BRTD offers all of these and more. I fully believe that the strong leadership and quick, concise tactical operations of this outfit are the reason TR continues to trounce the VS and NC in any and all events.

3: My history with Planetside is a short one. My Sergeant got me into the game and we rolled with D2A on Emerald back in 2004/2005. Due to my commitment to the Military I wasn't able to play as long or as often as I would have liked and ended up having to leave the game shortly afterwards. Like many others I picked the game back up after the buzz about PS2 beta and haven't looked back.

4: My most memorable experience with BRTD has to be, hands down, Planetside Day and spanking everything in sight. A close second would be the Old Oshur event. We can lose Hossin and Solsar. We could lose the Caves. The entire map could be blue and purple but WE know that we'll never be Sanc'd because by God we own Old Oshur.

5: Join now! You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Leave the drama at the door because you won't find any here.

6: The coordination between outfits can be exemplified with the recent event wins. Rabbit, Wild West, PSDay, Old Oshur. No matter the odds, No matter what's stacked against us we keep pushing.
Outside of the outfit though, I wouldn't listen to the CR5's. Good money says that a fraction of them are actually NC and VS looking to use us.

7: Overall I'm extremely excited. The combat looks top notch. The sights and sound are out of this world and the gameplay overall looks solid. Any concerns I have are reserved for beta with the exception that most strategy seems to be tactical in nature, not operational.

BRTD – Community Questions

1) Empire loyalty is a huge part of Planetside. What attracted you to the Terran Republic?]

It was something different style of gameplay than VS

2) What brought you to Better Red Than Dead?

A friend of mine, highly recommend them, he persuaded to go TR for one night, I have never gone back to VS since, bar the odd day or so.

3) Can you tell me a little about your history with Planetside

I played with purple valour for 3years, and then played TR for the last 5-6 years.

4) What has been your most memorable experience in the outfit so far?

One of many, doing empire defends event and dropping 15 gals on the cc of red alert base.
The recent oshur event, Planetside day were extremely enjoyable.

5) What would you say to anybody interested in joining the outfit?

If you want an organised outfit that do nightly ops, Special event and Outfit nights we do them all, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously, as our voice comms can be great fun.

6) How would you describe the outfit community?

Some very good and experienced players mixed with players that have return back to the game. Overall we get stuff done. We are usually in the places to do some epic re-secure of red alert bases. Our main epic is to have fun, so we will move to a new target if the outfit target is not takeable.

7) How do you feel about the approach of Planetside 2?

Excited and worried at the same time, this could be an epic game, but will it have elements of the PS1 or is catering for the Battle fields kiddies.

1) Empire loyalty is a huge part of Planetside. What attracted you to the Terran Republic?

I have always preferred using machine gun weapons over shotguns in fps games and the black and red just looks so mean, it was an easy choice.

2) What brought you to Better Red Than Dead?

I was originally outfit leader of -=APE=- but dwindling populations brought me to BRTD and i decided to join them to share my expertise and knowledge of the game with another outfit.

3) Can you tell me a little about your history with Planetside

I started playing during beta and have played pretty consistently over the 9 years the game has been around, only taking a year or so out when I played TF2 ladders. I topped the Werner server TR kills and experience leader board for many years and have grown into a trusted global commander for the TR and am often the last bastion of hope when things get rough and others go silent.

4) What has been your most memorable experience in the outfit so far?

The Planetside day event and celebrations were pretty epic, I filmed the parade in the TR sanctuary and made a short film of the mass conga we formed.

5) What would you say to anybody interested in joining the outfit?

Squad up, join mumble and just enjoy the fun, we are organised but have a fantastic laugh at the same time.

6) How would you describe the outfit community?

It's a mixed ability outfit with some very highly skilled veterans whose expertise filters down and brings up the entire outfits play level. We have good structure and people respect the commanders abilities to call targets and make snap decisions that can often change the shape of a fight instantly.

7) How do you feel about the approach of Planetside 2?

I'm very excited to try it out, we have all been waiting so long for beta. Planetside 2 has some huge shoes to fill though but I am confident the developers are going to make the sequal the community deserves.

1) Empire loyalty is a huge part of Planetside. What attracted you to the Terran Republic?
I dunno really, I guess I just liked their looks better than the other factions. After a few hard won fights over bases I started to develop a bit of 'hatred' for the other factions which to me just makes the game a lot more fun.
Empire/Faction loyalty make games more interesting, I loved that part about EVE online as well.
2) What brought you to Better Red Than Dead?
I've seen you guys around for ages. After I had installed Planetside after have been granted 45 free days of gametime I found myself in a generator room with a few BRTD members, including Jeffbeefjaw who I played a lot with when I was in Soul Reapers. I asked in local what outfit Jeff used to be in and I was hit up with an invite :p
3) Can you tell me a little about your history with Planetside
I was in the beta and played more than I probably should have. I have always loved FPS games and I'm usually pretty good at them.
I started playing the game prob 6 months after launch and haven't really been playing the game more than for a few months per year which means I have a pretty colorful outfit history.
I've played in The Fury, Soul Reapers and Unleashed.
4) What has been your most memorable experience in the outfit so far?
For me it's between Old Oshur and that time we took that NC base by cave link. Both fights brought out the beast in me that was ready to fight to the last breath :)
5) What would you say to anybody interested in joining the outfit?
I would tell them it's a really cool outfit with some really funny mumble banter going on. It has players from all levels of play and the outfit can really form a clenched fist and crush it's enemies :)
6) How would you describe the outfit community?
This is probably the hardest for me to answer as I just started using the forums. But in general I think it's really friendly when it comes down to it, always someone asking me to go with them on some operation or gun their vehicle.
People respond positively to things you do to support them and will let you know on mumble they appreciate it which to me is a sign of a mature community.
For example if I escort a liberator in my wasp and stuff like that.
7) How do you feel about the approach of Planetside 2?
I'm excited, but I'm trying not to get too many ideas in my head before I get to test it for real. I'm sure I will be playing it a ton for sure though :)

1: i was introduced into the game by a TR player (i forget the name) so followed his teachings. but liked the prowler mbt and we had a great thing going on as me as the driver and 2 stable gunners. it became the norm for us to team up and be a great tank group.

2: What brought me to BRTD was the fact that lupo1234 (who we pimped for our cr5) then joined BRTD. we followed him in the early days , so we followed his breakout into BRTD.

3: I have played planetside on and off since ... shit i dont know ... but about 2004/5. at the start i was TR and then due to leaving planetside and joining a widespread gaming clan for SWG/WOW/EQ2 i tagged myself on to NC and spent many a time being al's spy and giving vanguards/info when needed/asked. since i left the other group and with changing location i have not been online due to otherthings, most lately due to forza/mass effect XBOX.

4: most memerable? ermm not sure so many spring to mind, so many. mainly the fact that i always have fun within the outfit and im appreciated for getting a lodey in the right place, healing at the right time, or just the feeling of being made to feel welcome within the ranks :)

5: be tactical, listen , speak if you can, have fun

6: the outfit community is possibly the best out there. we all make mistakes. we can all be gods, as long as your in the middle its all good

7: i cant wait, im biting my lower lip to see what its like hands on!!

BRTD – Community Questions

1) Empire loyalty is a huge part of Planetside. What attracted you to the Terran Republic?
I originally started out on Terran Republic when I first got Planetside back in 2003 with not much knowledge of what the difference was between each empire, but growing a strong attachment to the idea of make the world red(As in TR red).

2) What brought you to Better Red Than Dead?
Well after a long stay away from Planetside I came back after nearly 7 years of not playing, emerald server no longer existed, I didn't have my old character, so while wandering randomly around squad to squad I saw BRTD's tags and joined one of their squads and was offered an invite which I graciously accepted. Now I log on from time to time waiting for PS2's release by killing VS and NC under BRTD's tags.

3) Can you tell me a little about your history with Planetside
I started out playing Planetside back in 2003 only a few months after it's launch, funny thing is when I bought Planetside I did not understand it was an MMO till I had already installed the game, but I shrugged it off and kept on going and started my first PS experience under the TR banner. I had kept playing for the next 2 years on Emerald with the outfit grolley achieving BR20/CR4 by early 2004 when it took forever to level. Only a few months after the Core combat/bending grolley disbanded and I was left alone I tried joining Dark Skyes for awhile but never was really the same, to flooded of an outfit of members coming from a previous medium sized outfit. After that I stopped my PS gaming for almost 7 years, returning when PS2 information started becoming very interesting, started a new character after it was lost in the server mergers getting to BR20/CR3 fairly quick.

4) What has been your most memorable experience in the outfit so far?
So far the most fun I had was during rabbit event a month or so back, rabbit event being a capture and keep away game with a LLU the empire that holds onto the rabbit for the longest amount of time wins. Where we were working together quick responses to new spawn locations and being very fun and enjoyable experience.

5) What would you say to anybody interested in joining the outfit?
BRTD is a great outfit that reminds me of what my old outfit grolley strove to do, provide a very fun and active planetside experience while maintaining a strong control of doing what needs to be done to ensure the terran republic will win.

6) How would you describe the outfit community?
Very active, enjoyable to be around and talk with in mumble. The BRTD community knows when its time to get serious for an op and when a lull during the game to lay back and enjoy the moment. All work and no play makes people rage.

7) How do you feel about the approach of Planetside 2?
I absolutely cannot wait for the release of Planetside 2, looking forward to alot of ops with the 2000 population continents as a mosquito pilot, and hoping to see some amazing epic battles take place in the new hex based control system for capturing the map.

On a visual side the red and black is of course an eye catcher and is in my opinion superior to anything the other factions offer. But looks can only get you so far and then you have to score with your inner values (and the TR can certainly do that!).
The Terran Republic brought peace and prosperity to Earth leading mankind into an era of unprecedented technological and cultural advancement. Ultimately opening the gate to the faraway reaches of the universe and their countless worlds. In the Terran Republic no man stands above the Law and all man are not only created equal but also treated equal. We are the Light in the Darkness, the Beacon of Hope, the Guarantor of Peace and Prosperity for all mankind. Not because we say so but because we already did so for hundreds of years on Earth!
What is Freedom without Rules: Chaos. What is Society without Order: Anarchy. What is Economy without Laws: Greed. Add all three and you have the NC: Greed, Chaos, Anarchy. Add to that some Laser-Pointers and Vanunatics and you have the VS.
We not only propagate Peace, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity like the other factions do, but we live(d) it and we die(d) for it!

2)
That one is a bit unspectacular. I was invited. I ran with BRTD squads from time to time and one day got an invite into the outfit which I accepted. I do hope that I distinguished myself during the time I ran with the squad and that that got me the attention of one of the senior officers of the outfit which then lead to my invitation, but I never really asked, so that is probably my little ego talking to itself.

3)
I am playing for over 7 years now, not in a continuous fashion but with some gaps in between that were some times personal, professional or whatever related. But I always come back to Planetside and that is something that no other MMOG I played (and that is quite a list) managed to achieve. Planetside offers a unique playing experience that no other game offers! It is a combination of Conquest, Tactical Combat, FPS, Strategic Planning, Scale of the Fights, Combined Forces, Support Gameplay, Adrenaline Rush, Fun and Failure in a addictive mixture, that is hard to describe to someone who has not played it.

4)
I go with a recent one, that was around Planetside Day. We had over 50 members online and formed a air attack group consisting of Reavers, Mosquitos, Wasps and 2 Lodestars for ammo and repair support. Seeing all those aircraft forming up and then attacking the NC and VS was a sight to behold and I will not forget this for a long time to come (although I do hope that PS2 can top even that).

5)
It is up to you, we are not forcing anyone. But if you are looking for a outfit that takes the game serious but not too serious, that offers a friendly environment and camaraderie, has in-game outfit events and the means&minds to launch their own assaults, you are more than welcome to join.
