Name: Rich May
Age: 34
Location: Oxford, UK
In-Game name: Shyrka
Previous Planetside experience: I played Planetside 1 from release for a year or so solidly and then dipped in and out over the last few years with my BR20 Advanced Medic (using the same name as my current character). I've been playing PS2 since the later phases of the beta.
Outfit history (if applicable): I was a member of the Terran Republic Army (TRA) in Planetside 1.
Other (online) games you have played / achievements: After PS1, I played Star Wars Galaxies, City of Heroes/Villains, WoW, WAR, Rift, Star Trek Online & DC Universe. I've also dabbled on Xbox Live with PGR, Forza, Halo, etc.
Do you have a mic? yes/no: Yes
What you hope to bring to BRTD: I'm a dedicated field medic and I take pride in my work. I endured the thankless life of an advanced medic in Planetside 1, watching thousands of my colleagues respawning as I risked my neck trying to revive them. My complaints to my fellow outfit members about their behaviour earned myself the nickname 'Angry Nurse' which I wore with no small amount of pride. Infantry combat is what I'm here for but I try to be a little more circumspect than many of my fellow grunts. I won't rush in and get myself killed at the first opportunity, I don't hang around outside spawn rooms trying to get shot and I try to stay alive long enough to heal myself and my comrades. If I get a kill from time to time, so much the better. I average about 1.75 K/D but that's not really what I play for. Oh, and my long hours of foot-slogging have given me a healthy hatred of Reavers, Scythes and other flying things; I will happily stand around in a MAX suit blowing them out of the sky for hours on end given half a chance.
What made you choose this outfit over any other organized outfit: I've been looking for an outfit since starting in PS2 but I promised myself I wouldn't accept the first offer I got. I looked around, searching for a large, well-organised unit and BRTD was the first one I found that truly fitted the bill. The outfit's PS1 history helped make my decision and the presence of some familiar names from the PS1 days was what finally swung it. Oh, and the bit about not taking things too seriously helped a lot too!
What do you want from BRTD: I'm looking for an outfit that is organised and has enough active members to make my relatively-limited online time worthwhile. I love Planetside but I've spent too long as a lone wolf: I want to be part of something bigger and BRTD seems to me to be the best way to achieve that.
What is your preferred play style: Infantry/Armour/Aircraft: Infantry all the way. I'm happy enough riding shotgun in a Prowler or Galaxy but my first love is cowering in a foxhole, surrounded by tracer fire, trying desperately to stitch the bloodied pieces of my squad mates back together.
Anything else you'd like to add: I'm a programmer in the games industry. Sadly I never get to work on anything as cool as Planetside.
